Message from our Board Chair

Teresa Sit
Your support of the University Pediatrics Foundation provides vital resources to the University of Minnesota physicians, scientists, and faculty who translate medical breakthroughs into exceptional care for children. In order to continue providing top-tier medical research and care, our University recently committed to upgrading its clinical pediatric facilities.
Early next year, the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview, will break ground on a replacement facility for the hospital. Its state-of-the-art design will enhance clinical care, provide a family-centered environment, and make it easier for physicians and researchers to take new knowledge from the lab directly to the bedside.
The University of Minnesota has pioneered a number of world firsts in children's health: the first pediatric open-heart surgeries, bone marrow and stem-cell transplants, and needle-puncture kidney biopsy. Yet, despite these and other tremendous advances in pediatric medicine, there are still diseases and illnesses that have no cure, leaving too many families with little or no hope.
Just imagine the cures and treatments today's skilled physicians and researchers could discover tomorrow. But to achieve those breakthroughs, they need your ongoing support. Your support of the University Pediatrics Foundation provides needed funds for research, medical equipment, and Scholar Awards to promising junior faculty.
Along with our talented and committed UPF board members who so generously donate their time and resources, I thank you for supporting children's health.
