Who We Are
Our mission
To advance the well-being and quality of health of children and adolescents in Minnesota, the Upper Midwest, and beyond
The University Pediatrics Foundation is a community-based organization that supports innovative research, service, and education in the University of Minnesota's nationally ranked Department of Pediatrics—the engine for breakthroughs in children's health at the University of Minnesota.
Formed in March 2002, the University Pediatrics Foundation represents the combined resources and efforts of the former Variety Children's Association and the University Children's Foundation. For nearly 70 years, Variety Children's Association had advanced children's health by supporting the construction of hospital and clinical facilities, pediatric research, and other areas of health care. For close to 15 years, the University Children's Foundation had helped accelerate medical research into the causes—and potential cures—of diseases in children.
The University Pediatrics Foundation is an affiliate of the Minnesota Medical Foundation, the oldest of four foundations recognized by the University of Minnesota's Board of Regents. The Minnesota Medical Foundation raises millions of dollars annually in support of the University of Minnesota Medical School, School of Public Health, Cancer Center, and related units in the University's Academic Health Center.
